Dog Friendly Cafes and Bars

There is plenty of dog walking available in the Cairngorms and the Speyside Way is only a few minutes' walk from the cottage. There are a number of dog friendly cafes and bars in the local area including The Old Bridge Inn (Bar - food is available in the bar), Cafe Mambos, The Rowan Tree Hotel (Bar - food is available in the bar but you will need to book 01479 810207), The Skiing-Doo (Downstairs Bar only - opens at 3pm) and The Cairngorm Hotel (Foyer) in Aviemore; Glenmore Lodge and The Pine Marten Bar in Glenmore; and The Osprey Cafe and The Boat Hotel (Foyer) in Boat of Garten. If you find any other places then place let us know and we will add to the site.

Dalfaber Golf and Country Club

The Leisure Club at Dalfaber is only a five minute walk away and has many facilities on offer. The Clubhouse Bar and the Steakhouse Restaurant are open to non-members. Weekly passes are available at reception if you would like to use the sports facilities where you can take a swim, relax in the whirlpool, or workout in the gym. There is also a large sports hall where you can play tennis, badminton and table tennis where you can pay on the day.

Spey Valley Leisure Centre

The Leisure Centre is situated in the centre of Aviemore. There is a large swimming pool with flumes, sauna, steam room and gym—something for all the family.

Loch Garten Ospreys

The RSPB reserve is situated a few miles away just outside Boat of Garten.  When the Ospreys returned to breed in Scotland this ancient Caledonian pine forest is where they chose to come.  The Loch Garten Osprey Centre provides fantastic views of these magnificent birds on the nest, using close up CCTV. There are also some excellent walks with the opportunity to see a variety of wildlife. Open daily from April through to August.

Cairngorm Mountain Funicular Railway

The UK’s highest funicular railway is open daily and allows you to discover Cairngorm’s ancient landscape from the comfort and safety of the train. Trains run every 20 minutes with the first train running at 10:20am and the last one at 5:00pm.

The cinema is located in the Macdonald Aviemore Resort and has a capacity of 650 seats and shows the latest releases.

The Whisky Trail

The only malt whisky trail in the world. On this trail, you’ll find more than half of Scotland’s malt whisky distilleries, each with its own warm welcome and an invitation to see, smell, taste and absorb the magic of whisky. The trail stretches from Grantown on Spey to Elgin, a distance of 40 miles. The distilleries include Glenlivet, Glenfiddich, Glen Grant and Glenfarclas.
