Snow Sports

This self-catering accommodation is located only 8 miles from the Cairngorm ski resort which offers skiers and snowboarders a beautiful and challenging place to ski. The snow sports typically take place between December and April, depending on snowfall; with winter operating hours usually between 9am and 4pm depending on daylight. There are more than 30km of ski runs as well as a fully maintained snowboard park; with cross country skiing also popular and Disability Snowsports UK offering snow sports tuition for the disabled
The Lecht and Glenshee Ski resorts are also located within the Cairngorms National Park.

Walking

There is a vast choice of walks in and around Aviemore—from the challenge of the Cairngorms to low level walks in the Rothiemurchus estate you really are spoilt for choice. The Speyside Way starts in Aviemore and finishes at Buckie on the coast 65 miles away. A fantastic website for all types of walks is Walk Highlands.

Mountain Biking

Scotland is the No 1 mountain biking destination in Europe and the Cairngorms National Park is a paradise for mountain bikers. You will find yourself amidst some of the UK’s most dramatic scenery, exploring the most stunning scenery, from forest roads, to wide tracks to natural singletrack. Cycling

There are many on road cycle routes in and around Aviemore and the National Cycle Network route 7 is only a few hundred yards from the cottage.

Golf

There are seven golf courses in the Aviemore area including the new Spey Valley championship course. These offer a unique experience with the splendid natural backdrop of the Cairngorm Mountains.

Fishing

With river, loch and coarse fishing all available in this beautiful area, it attracts anglers from all over the world. The River Spey, Scotland’s longest and fastest river, is on your doorstep and  it enjoys a high reputation from fly fisherman everywhere.

Watersports

Loch Insh and Loch Morlich both offer wonderful settings to enjoy a sailing holiday or a variety of other watersports such as canoeing, windsurfing and rowing.

Horse Riding and Pony Trekking

With varied hill, moorland, river and pine forest riding, much of it off track, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the wildlife and scenery on horseback. Pony trekking is available in the Rothiemurchus Estate which is a couple of miles from the cottage.
